Two men were arrested on January 14 after Kearny Police intercepted a vehicle tied to a recent shooting in Irvington. Officers recovered a stolen handgun and a knife during the operation near Passaic Avenue.

The vehicle, flagged as a felony entry in NCIC, was linked to an active investigation. Police identified and arrested Travis W. Brown, 33, of Irvington, recovering a loaded 9mm handgun from his jacket. The firearm was later confirmed stolen. A second suspect, Daijon L. Williams, 26, of Newark, was found in possession of a knife and had an outstanding warrant.

Brown was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, receiving stolen property, and related weapons offenses. Williams was charged and processed for his warrant. A third individual was released without charges.

“I am proud of the diligent work and coordination displayed by our officers and detectives in safely resolving this high-risk situation,” said Kearny Police Chief Scott Macfie.

Both suspects were taken to Hudson County Correctional Facility. The investigation involved cooperation with Irvington Police detectives.
