County Announces LED Streetlight Upgrades Along River Road

Hudson County Executive Craig Guy announced new safety lighting improvements along River Road through a partnership with PSE&G. The initiative involves upgrading all existing streetlights to energy-efficient LED fixtures, enhancing nighttime visibility for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists between West New York and North Bergen.
“Safety on our roads is a top priority,” said Executive Guy. “Upgrading streetlights is one of the most effective ways to make our streets safer for everyone.”
The project is part of the county’s Vision Zero efforts to prevent traffic crashes and serious injuries. Guy acknowledged the collaboration of Union City Mayor Brian Stack and North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco in supporting the upgrades.
PSE&G is managing the replacement of outdated lighting with brighter, more reliable LEDs to ensure consistent illumination along the busy corridor.
“PSE&G is proud to work with Hudson County in upgrading to modern LED lighting to brighten streets and improve visibility,” said Joe McQueen, Senior Regional Public Affairs Manager.
