Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Opens New DNA Laboratory

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has unveiled a state-of-the-art DNA Laboratory at its Meadowview Campus in Secaucus, promising faster forensic analysis for critical investigations.

Previously, DNA evidence had to be sent to state labs, often causing months-long delays. The new facility guarantees results within 14 business days and will handle evidence from major cases such as homicides and sexual assaults.

“DNA is one of the strongest pieces of investigatory evidence,” said Prosecutor Esther Suarez. “Processing material in-house will expedite justice and serve our community better.”

The lab, one of only two run by county prosecutor’s offices in New Jersey, operates independently under Director Jonathan Kui and a dedicated team. It is expected to process around 500 cases annually.

This new resource strengthens Hudson County’s law enforcement capabilities, marking a significant step forward in serving the community.
