Councilman Gilmore Endorses Solomon for Jersey City Mayor

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Ward F Councilmember Frank Gilmore has endorsed fellow Councilmember James Solomon in the 2025 race for Jersey City mayor, signaling a key alliance between two of the City Council’s most vocal independent members.
Gilmore and Solomon have collaborated on several initiatives, including eliminating pool fees for residents.
“I am so proud to endorse my friend, the People’s Choice for Mayor, James Solomon,” Gilmore said in a statement. “What Jersey City needs is more affordable housing, safer, stronger neighborhoods, and an end to the corruption that raises our property taxes every day — and James has been on the frontlines fighting for exactly that.”
Solomon, who represents downtown’s Ward E, also endorsed Gilmore’s campaign for re-election to the Ward F seat. Both officials have positioned themselves as reform-minded critics of the city’s political establishment.
“Frank Gilmore knows what it takes to stand up to the machine, win, and deliver results for our city — and I couldn’t be more proud to receive his endorsement and endorse his campaign for re-election,” Solomon said.
