Jersey City Launches JCWorks

Jersey City Mayor James Solomon has launched JCWorks, a new system that has city leaders meet regularly to check how departments are performing and fix problems before they pile up.

At the core of JCWorks are recurring meetings the city calls “Stats.” In them, the mayor, the business administrator and department heads review data on city services, look at what is holding work back, and assign each fix to a named person with a deadline. The first meeting was held as the system launched, the city said.

Each Stat will focus on a single department, a specific service, or a problem that needs several departments to work together. The goal is to catch delays and backlogs earlier and keep track of whether promises get kept, according to the city.

“Residents should see the difference when their government makes a commitment,” Solomon said. “JCWorks will help us make decisions, hold ourselves accountable with data and follow through.”
