Hoboken Joins Mayors Against Illegal Guns in Mayor Jabbour’s First Official Act

Mayor Emily B. Jabbour announced that her first official act in office was enrolling Hoboken in Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a national bipartisan coalition dedicated to reducing gun violence and supporting evidence-based public safety policies.
“Joining Mayors Against Illegal Guns as my first act in office reflects the values that brought me into public service,” said Mayor Jabbour. “As a mom, I know what it means to want your children, and every child in our community, to grow up feeling safe.”
Jabbour’s work on gun safety began prior to her time in elected office, when she helped found the Hudson County chapter of Moms Demand Action. The organization’s executive director, Angela Ferrell-Zabala, praised the move, citing Jabbour’s consistent advocacy on Hoboken’s City Council.
Hoboken’s membership in the coalition, which is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, is expected to enhance collaboration with law enforcement and other agencies to prevent illegal gun trafficking and possession.
