Mayor Carol Jean Doyle and Kearny Officials Sworn In at 2026 Reorganization Meeting

The Town of Kearny held its 2026 Reorganization Meeting on Jan. 7, officially beginning the new legislative year with the swearing-in of Mayor Carol Jean Doyle and other elected officials.
The ceremony featured the National Anthem performed by Bernadette Oberndorf and an invocation by Deacon John Sarnas. Town Clerk Patricia Carpenter certified the election results, followed by the Honorable Judge Mary Costello administering the oath of office to Mayor Doyle, Council President Marytrine De Castro, and Council Members Jose Rodrigues, Fred Esteves, and Gerald Ficeto. Deputy Mayors George J. Harris and Melanie Ryan were also sworn in.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Senator Angela V. McKnight, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, Hudson County Sheriff James Davis, and Christian Gil, representing Congresswoman Nellie Pou’s office.
The council approved a series of appointments and reappointments to municipal boards and committees. Officials expressed gratitude to volunteers and staff, with Mayor Doyle and council members offering remarks recognizing the town’s continued civic engagement. The evening ended with a reception to mark the beginning of the new term.
