Gilmore Wins Re-Election in Jersey City Ward F Council Race

Frank “Educational” Gilmore secured a second term as Ward F councilperson in Jersey City, receiving 56.16% of the vote and avoiding a runoff, according to unofficial results with 82.35% of districts reporting. Gilmore, an independent incumbent, received 4,379 votes. Gloria Walton followed with 1,863 votes (23.89%), and Keith Howell-Garvin received 1,487 votes (19.07%). There were 69 write-in votes.

First elected in 2021, Gilmore began serving on the Jersey City Municipal Council on January 1, 2022. A lifelong resident of the city, he is known for his work in education and youth mentorship, as well as for his public nickname “Educational.”

Gilmore is the founder of the Educational Gilmore Community Learning Center and the F.E.D.D.I.E. Foundation, both focused on supporting underserved youth through tutoring, mentorship, and health initiatives. His background includes incarceration as a young adult, followed by a personal transformation that led to his graduation from Rutgers University in 2014.

Gilmore, an independent incumbent, won re-election with the backing of Ward E Councilmember James Solomon, who is headed to a runoff election in his own race for mayor against former Governor Jim McGreevey.
