PSEG has appointed Wesley Mathews as vice president for state government affairs within its corporate citizenship organization. In this role, Mathews will oversee state and regional governmental affairs and report to Rick Thigpen, senior vice president for Corporate Citizenship.
Mathews most recently served as president and chief executive officer at Choose New Jersey. He previously worked as a career diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service, focusing on strengthening U.S. economic and commercial interests.
“Wes is an experienced and accomplished leader, and we are pleased to welcome him to the Corporate Citizenship team,” said Thigpen. “Wes’ knowledge and strategic insight will be invaluable additions to our very strong state government team. I am pleased that he will join the team while we work to further strengthen our engagement and collaboration with the public sector and our stakeholders throughout the state. As the exiting CEO of the state’s leading business attraction entity, Wes will help us continue to navigate the increasingly dynamic public affairs environment and support the Governor-elect to ensure a seamless transition for New Jersey.”
According to PSEG, Mathews will support the company’s ongoing collaboration with state leaders to address energy affordability, reliability, economic growth, workforce development, and policy initiatives. The company stated that he joins a 13,000-person workforce committed to being “Jersey Ready.”
PSEG is New Jersey’s largest transmission and distribution utility, serving 2.4 million electric and 1.9 million natural gas customers. The company also owns 3,758 megawatts of carbon-free nuclear power generating capacity in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
