West New York Rapper Mesa Honored by Mayor for NYC Marathon Finish

West New York Mayor Albio Sires recently met with music artist and marathon runner Mesa, also known as Mr. 100 Summers, to celebrate his completion of the 2025 New York City Marathon. Mesa, a Memorial High School graduate, was recognized for his discipline and determination as both an artist and athlete.

“It takes a lot of perseverance. It takes a lot of determination,” said Mayor Sires. “There were good days and bad days when you run, and he got up and he did it. That’s a great example for the kids that we have here in this town.”

Mesa is affiliated with Run Champs, a running movement popularized by rapper N.O.R.E. that promotes a healthy lifestyle through local runs, wellness retreats, and brand partnerships. He is also known for appearances on the podcast Private Talk With Alexis Texas and recently featured in Season 11 of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.

“This is someone who showed a lot of determination,” said Sires. “It’s good for our kids in town to see somebody do that because they can say, ‘Look, he did it. I can do it.’”

Sires reflected on Mesa’s roots in West New York, stating, “He went to the high school here, went through here. He is a great role model.” The mayor also spoke about the importance of youth sports and active recreation. “To me, if you participate in sports, whatever it is, you’re not hanging around in the corner. You’re not getting involved… We try to build our recreation program with the idea of keeping kids busy.”

Mesa, whose music career includes collaborations with Rick Ross, Jadakiss, and Albee Al, has been promoting a healthy lifestyle and recently teamed up with AQUA Riserva water for a product partnership.
