Urban Paddle owner & Hudson County native, Kevin Murray, announced today the Grand Opening of two kayak rental locations on the lakes at Braddock Park in North Bergen and Lincoln Park in Jersey City. Rentals open this Saturday, August 7th.

This will be the first-time kayak rentals will be available on the two pristine city lakes. Paddlers will be able to rent single or two-person kayaks by the hour ($20/hour for a single kayak / $30/hour for a double kayak) children over 6 years old can paddle with an adult. All equipment including life-vests are provided along with free paddle instruction by Urban Paddle’s trained staff of local high school and college students.

Urban Paddle is a kayak tour company located in Jersey City that offers unique guided tours of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty (UrbanPaddle.com / Instagram: @urbanpaddlejc / TikTok: #urbanpaddle). Urban Paddle’s ultimate goal is to activate our urban waterfronts by increasing paddle activity and through partnerships with local residential communities, universities and youth organizations.

“Our philosophy is to get more paddlers out on the water to awaken their love for paddling & an appreciation for our local marine environments,” said Murray in a recent interview. “We are a beginner friendly operation meaning we teach each of our paddlers the basics in paddle technique & marine safety.

There is no better time to get into a new activity and we are the introduction to kayaking for those urban residents who normally wouldn’t have easy access to the sport,” said Murray who was raised in North Bergen and spent much of his childhood in Braddock Park.

“Open-space in combination with active-life activities such as kayak rentals is a great formula and we believe that Kayaking in the Park will be a great addition to the already exceptional Hudson County Park system,” said Murray.

Kayak rental reservations can be made in advance by visiting www.KayakinthePark.com.
