Suspect Charged in Fatal Union City Shooting, Public Asked to Help Locate Him

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is seeking the public’s help in locating a North Bergen man charged in connection with the fatal shooting of David Pulgarin, 42, of North Bergen, in Union City on March 23, 2026.

Luis Marin, 57, of North Bergen, has been charged with “murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess a weapon,” according to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello.

Just after 1:50 a.m. on March 23, the Union City Police Department responded to reports of an altercation and shots fired in the area of Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street. Responding officers located Pulgarin with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Authorities said Marin should not be approached. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345 or submit an anonymous tip at hcpo.org/tips. All information will be kept confidential.
