Jersey City Medical Center Honors 300 Long-Serving Colleagues and 8 Retirees at Gala

Jersey City Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health hospital, honored 300 long-serving colleagues and eight retirees during its Longevity Gala on May 13 at Maritime Parc.

The event celebrated employees marking milestone anniversaries from five to 50 years of service. The honorees represent decades of experience across patient care, operations, and support roles at the hospital.

According to the hospital, the gala recognized “the people whose years of service have helped strengthen the hospital’s care, culture and connection to Hudson County.”

The hospital said long-term service carries meaningful weight in a clinical setting. “Experienced colleagues help preserve institutional knowledge, mentor newer team members and support the daily work that patients, co-workers, students and interns depend on,” the hospital said.

Employees were recognized by service milestone, reflecting the year they began their careers at Jersey City Medical Center. The program also honored 2025 retirees, including four who attended the event: Carmen Rios, RN, Nursing Float Pool; Grace Gomes, Office Manager, Department of Surgery; Larry Lapitan, RN, ASC; and Violeta Canceran, Patient Access Representative, Patient Access Services.

The hospital described the gala as “a reminder that a hospital’s legacy is built by the people who return each day to care, support, lead and serve.”
