West New York’s 1966 Little Leaguers Meet Bayonne’s 2026 Team

Sixty years after West New York put Hudson County on the Little League map, the county’s last two World Series teams finally met.
Members of the 1966 West New York American Little League team, inducted into the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday, Oct. 8, came face-to-face with players from this summer’s Bayonne Little League team at the ceremony at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City.
The 1966 West New York squad had been the last Hudson County team to reach the Little League World Series until Bayonne ended the 60-year wait this summer, as HudPost reported.
The two teams were part of a night that honored 14 inductees and two special award winners, including women and athletes of color whose careers broke barriers in their sports, county officials said.
County Executive Craig Guy hosted with Board of County Commissioners Chairman Anthony Romano and Commissioner Kenneth Kopacz.
“These athletes have not only made history in their respective sports but have inspired generations of young people to dream bigger and work harder,” Guy said.
