Union City Represented as AJ Lee Took the Stage at WrestleMania 42

Union City native AJ Lee represented her hometown on one of wrestling’s biggest stages Saturday night, entering WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, with the arena announcer calling out Union City, New Jersey, as she made her way to the ring accompanied by a group of young children dressed like her.
Lee dropped the title to Becky Lynch, who became a three-time WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Lynch controlled much of the early action before referee Jessica Carr became a factor in the match’s outcome. After a confrontation between Lynch and Carr, the official shoved Lynch, allowing Lee to briefly shift momentum and nearly secure the win. Lynch ultimately sent Lee into an exposed turnbuckle and landed her finishing move to capture the championship, according to WWE.
Lee, who grew up in Union City, made her WWE return in September 2025 after a decade away from the ring.
