Two Arrested in West New York Burglary

Two men were arrested in West New York after officers responded to a burglary in progress during the early morning hours of January 1, 2026. Officers R. Rodriguez, C. Ramos, N. DeNicola, A. Moustafa, E. Ramirez, and A. Sepulveda were dispatched to the 400 block of 53rd Street, where they found an apartment door open and damaged.

Inside the apartment, officers located Albert Carroll, 61, of the Bronx, and Diego Bautista, 31, of New York City. Both were wearing ski masks. A crowbar, believed to have been used to force entry, was recovered at the scene. Officers detained both men without incident.

The two were charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief, conspiracy, and theft. They were later taken to Hudson County Jail.

“I want to commend Officers R. Rodriguez, C. Ramos, N. DeNicola, A. Moustafa, E. Ramirez, and A. Sepulveda for their swift, professional response to a burglary in progress call,” said Police Director Henry Codina. “Their situational awareness and decisive actions helped bring this incident to a safe and controlled resolution, resulting in two individuals being taken into custody without injury to residents or officers. The West New York Police Department takes crimes against our community seriously, especially incidents that threaten the safety and security of people.”
