Town Officials Dedicate Plaques Honoring Local Coaches at Gunnell Oval

Mayor Carol Jean Doyle, joined by Council members Jose Rodrigues, Marytrine De Castro, and Fred Esteves, helped unveil commemorative plaques at Gunnell Oval honoring coaches and mentors who contributed significantly to youth sports in Kearny.

The dedication ceremony also included Recreation Director Ralph A. Cattafi, Recreation Chairwoman Lyla DeCastro Lawdanski, and Vice Chairman Lewis Battista. Families and community members attended the event to pay tribute to individuals remembered for their commitment to mentoring local youth.

“The plaques recognize those who, through years of volunteer service, helped shape Kearny’s recreational programs and inspired generations of athletes,” stated the Town of Kearny.
