Sen. Andy Kim Endorses James Solomon for Jersey City Mayor Ahead of Runoff
U.S. Senator Andy Kim has endorsed James Solomon in the Jersey City mayoral runoff election, scheduled for December 2.
In a recorded statement shared on social media, Kim said he has seen growing interest in “a new generation of leadership” across New Jersey. “I see in James Solomon someone that I can work with, someone that I’m excited about, someone who embodies that sense of a new generation of leadership stepping up,” Kim said. He added that Solomon represents “a new perspective, a new passion, a new hunger,” and a “recommitment to public service.”
Kim emphasized that politics in New Jersey has often felt like “an exclusive club for the well-off and the well-connected,” but said that “now is a moment where we can change that.”
In a separate post on X, formerly Twitter, Kim wrote, “I’m excited to endorse James Solomon for Mayor of Jersey City! James represents a new generation of leadership. His winning the most number of votes in the general election shows the energy he built going into the run-off on December 2. James is a principled public servant and a dedicated father who I’ve known for years, and I trust him to fight alongside me for transparency, affordability, and opportunity.”
Solomon responded online, saying, “What an absolute honor to be endorsed by Senator Andy Kim! Senator Kim and I fought against the NJ machine together, and as mayor I will partner with Andy to ensure we have a government that’s ethical and will focus on making life affordable.”
The endorsement comes as Solomon seeks to build momentum heading into the December 2 runoff election for Jersey City mayor.
