HudPost’s Pedro Garcia Fulfills Dream of Opening for Joey Diaz
Pedro Garcia, host of the HudPost Comedy Show and a North Bergen native, has been opening for legendary comedian Joey “Coco” Diaz, recently joining him on stage and as a guest on Diaz’s podcast, Football Night at Uncle Joey’s.
Garcia, an alumnus of North Bergen High School and former NJCU baseball player, is a regular at comedy clubs such as Dojo of Comedy and Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club. He now considers Diaz both a mentor and a friend.
Garcia’s journey from Hudson County stages to performing alongside Diaz marks a personal milestone. According to comedian Matt Rivera, a friend of Garcia’s who recently appeared on an episode of Kill Tony, the opportunity fulfilled a longtime goal.
“I remember Pedro telling me one of his dreams was to open for Joey Diaz,” Rivera said.
Diaz, also a North Bergen alumnus, is known for his brash, dark humor and national comedy success. His film credits include Spider-Man 2, The Many Saints of Newark, and The Longest Yard. Garcia’s appearance on Football Night at Uncle Joey’s highlighted Garcia’s rising profile in comedy.
