Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez (D-Bergen, Hudson) has tested positive for COVID-19 after being tested at Holy Name Hospital on Sunday, March 29. She has since entered into self-quarantine to prevent the spread of the virus in her community. Assemblywoman Jimenez released the following statement upon receiving her results:

“Throughout the day on Saturday, I began to experience a pounding headache and body aches. I suspected I might be sick with COVID-19, so I contacted my doctor who told me to get tested. I just received confirmation late this afternoon that I have the virus.

I am currently resting and recovering at home. Thankfully, my daughter Gianna is healthy and showing no symptoms. She is a resilient 8th grader and the light of my life who is helping me stay positive through all of this.

Although I’m still experiencing symptoms such as chest tightness, I remain in good spirits. It’s tough to keep a mom down.

I want to recognize the medical professionals and first responders, including law enforcement who are putting their health on the line every day to keep our communities safe under incredible circumstances, and want to thank the many people who have shown their support for my family during this time.

It’s important for everyone to make sure they stay at home and keep their distance from other people whenever they have to go out. Each of us must do our part to help keep our neighbors safe from this serious illness

I look forward to working on behalf of the people of New Jersey again as soon as I have recovered.”
